On Thursday, both Lisa and Eddie attended a community half-term event at The Hub on Grange Park, chatting to tenants and their families about upcoming courses on offer and other opportunities to get involved. It was a great event, organised by Let's Grow Preston with stalls, food, representatives from local police and fire services, dancers and arts and crafts ๐๐ฏโโ๏ธ๐จโ๐จOur Grounds Maintenance teams have been busy since the grass-cutting season has come to a close, removing disused planters and rotted wood from the gardens at independent living scheme, Oak Tree Court. They finished off by sowing grass and wildflower seed which will provide some lovely colour next Spring and Summer ๐๐น -

Residents enjoyed German-themed food a raffle and musical entertainment from Independent Living Facilitator John!
๐ง๏ธ The Engagement team carried out a mini pop-up in the Ashton area, promoting our Winter Warmer sessions in November, which will support tenants with heating, cookery and money advice as the weather gets colder.
๐ค The team also spoke to tenants in Dawson and Aughton Walks in the city centre, consulting them about the removal of some benches which are a focus for anti-social behaviour, as well as a range of ways they can get involved. As you can see, they're sporting new CGA-branded beanies, ready for winter!
๐ฎโโ๏ธ Engagement Officer Eddie spent some time in Moor Nook, following up an environmental audit by the Police, to see how we could support them in the area.
๐ป Our Gateway Central group met on Thursday evening for an Insight and Information workshop, and were given new Chrome Books to help them carry out their roles. Gateway Central is a sub-committee of our Board, overseeing the development of our Community Empowerment Strategy, monitoring customer service performance and look at all tenant consultation activity. Eddie, Lisa and Sharon also visited Brookfield with Amanda from our Tenancy Management team.๐ Eddie met with local neighbourhood policing teams in Moor Nook and Ribbleton to discuss ways of working together to tackle a rise in anti-social behaviour in the area. He also popped into The Hub on Grange Park to have a chat with members of the Glees lunch club.๐๏ธ On Friday, we hosted a very successful sale of discounted high-street goods with our friends Rebuild with Hope, which was well attended by CGA colleagues and tenants keen to pick up a bargain or two! -

Applications included an air fryer cooking course, youth activities and social events that aim to reduce isolation for older people.โ๏ธ This week our Engagement team were really pleased to be able to get together with partners across Preston at Preston Community Hub for National Energy Action's 'Prepare for Winter' event. It was great to have the chance to chat to tenants and local residents who were getting lots of support and advice about staying warm and well in the colder weather.๐งถ Earlier in the week Sharon and Lisa were accompanied by colleague Amanda from our Tenancy Management Team to carry out a community pop-up in Ingol, sharing volunteering opportunities with tenants. They also dropped in to visit the Knitting Group at Ingol Library, who were delighted to receive a donation of yarn!๐ Engagement Officer Eddie rounded off the week joining in the monthly litter-pick at the Hub in Grange Park with The Friends of Grange Park and Brockholes Wood, which was followed by pizza made by Let's Grow Preston and their volunteers. -

The Committee shared plenty of opinions and insight to help shape and develop these projects before theyโre presented to Board next week.
๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ Our Engagement team joined Tenancy Management colleagues at the launch of LCCโs Preston Family Hubs, which was also well attended by local partners and families.
๐ Sharon was in Moor Nook to sign up another allotment holder, and was happy to see the apple trees full of lovely-looking fruit!
๐ช Eddie and Lisa visited one of city centre neighbourhoods to check out some benches which tenants had identified as being a focus for anti-social behaviour. This is part of a wide project to tackle ASB in the area.
๐ค๐ฝ The team also held a community pop-up in the St Matthews area, meeting tenants and chatting about ways they can get involved.
๐งฝ Our Cleansing team have been busy on the Grange Estate, power washing the communal outdoor space to improve the environment for everyone.

Share 18th - 22nd September 2023 on Facebook Share 18th - 22nd September 2023 on Twitter Share 18th - 22nd September 2023 on Linkedin Email 18th - 22nd September 2023 link๐ The Engagement Team have been out in the community a lot this week, starting with Sharon dropping into Farringdon Park Community Centre to support their Clothing Club drop in.๐ค On Tuesday, Lisa popped into Preston City Council Forums Networking event held at the MET Tent to find out what other local organisations are up to in the community and identify any partnership opportunities.๐ฐ Along with Strive to Thrive and UCLan, we held The Big Afternoon Tea for tenants in our Independent Living Schemes. There was yummy food, music and even a few quizzes and bingo!๐ง On Thursday, The Filberts arranged a quiz for tenants across our 13 Independent Living Schemes. There were some tricky questions, but they all did really well.๐ก Lisa also spent some time with community groups from the Independent Living schemes to talk about our community fund and how they can access support for their activities.โ Our Engagement Officers have been out in the rain this afternoon for a pop up in Ashton, chatting to tenants about involvement opportunities and how they can get involved. -

This time, they were inspired by Italy! The group enjoyed pizza and ice cream for lunch, while joining in with Italian word and picture quizzes.๐ It was a pleasure to support Farringdon Park Community Centre with their litter picking event on Thursday. Well done to everyone that took part, thank you for helping to keep our neighbourhoods clean and tidy!๐ Our Tenant Satisfaction Survey went live, donโt miss your chance to share your views and be in with the chance of winning on our prize draw.๐ค We attended the Lea and Larches Together Meeting at The Hub at St Bernards and meet with our partner, Beanstalk to discuss upcoming training opportunities for tenants, keep your eyes peeled for upcoming opportunities! -

Share 4th - 9th September 2023 on Facebook Share 4th - 9th September 2023 on Twitter Share 4th - 9th September 2023 on Linkedin Email 4th - 9th September 2023 linkItโs been another busy week for the Engagement Team, that brought with it lots of donations!๐ The team donated two lots of brand-new school uniform โ one to St Stephens Primary School and another to accommodation for local homeless families.๐งถ The team also swung by the Friends of Fulwood Library Knitting Group to drop off a large donation of wool. The group is busy knitting Christmas items for their winter fair, and lucky Sharon got to try on one of their handmade hats. We think sheโs found a new look!๐ก Sharon and Lisa were around Fishwick on Wednesday in the sun, chatting to tenants during their Community pop up๐ป Our Annual General Meeting was on Thursday and the Engagement Team attended the screening at our extra-care scheme, The Courtyards. It was great to see so many tenants there, as well as those at Harbour House and watching the livestream.๐จ We had exciting discussions with Age Concern Central Lancashire about future work together, and saw some of the great work that they've been doing.๐ฐ This afternoon, Lisa dropped into Disability Equality North West - DENW, where Gateway tenant Margaret donated an amazing ยฃ1514.20 that she raised from her bake sales. -

We held the final session of our School Uniform Store on Thursday, taking the grand total of people weโve helped to 101 families, providing 215 kids with 805 items of uniform ahead of the new school term ๐
Friday was the first time weโve worked with new partners, Rebuild with Hope charity, who held a pop-up sale of high-street goods at heavily discounted prices at The Hub at St Bernards ๐ The sale was really well attended, with lots of our tenants there to grab a bargain or two. Rebuild with Hope plough all profits back into the charity and are also donating a portion to help support CGA tenants over Winter. Weโre looking forward to more joint projects in the future.
The team also called in at the last Cook, Eat, Repeat session this afternoon. These family cookery workshops have been really popular, helping tenants make budget friendly meals for everyone to enjoy ๐จ๐ฝโ๐ณ๐ฅ

They also took the opportunity to call in at the Over 50s Friendship Club on Thursday, where everyone was enjoying crafts and lunch together.
๐จ At The Hub on Grange Park, they met with manager Michelle to discuss upcoming activities before dropping in at a community Art Club at Soundskills.
๐ฐ It was great to see the community fridge being well used at Preston Community Hub, and the team finished the week with a visit to another Cook, Eat, Repeat session with Beanstalk Cookery, where families were having a lovely time creating budget-friendly dishes together. This week's treats were cake pops!
