WE WANT YOU! ...TO JOIN OUR BOARD
Community Gateway Association is currently looking to appoint a new Board Member with knowledge and experience in relation to financial management, as well as a good understanding the views and needs of our tenants.
We place tenant involvement at the heart of everything we do and would especially welcome expressions of interest in this role from tenants who possess the above skills.
The Board is the main decision-making body within Community Gateway and legally responsible for what happens within the Company. The Board makes decisions about how our homes and neighbourhoods are managed, the building of new homes, and how we work with and support our communities.
What’s in it for me?
Joining our Board will benefit you personally in many ways, such as:
giving something back and make a difference to the lives of people within our local communities;
gaining new knowledge, skills and experience that will be useful in other areas of your life;
meeting new people and growing in confidence; and
payment of £3,500 per year.
What other skills do I need?
In addition to knowledge and experience of financial management, audit and risk management, the skills you will need to make a good Board Member include:
leadership;
ability to work collaboratively as a team;
effective communication skills;
ability to constructively challenge other opinions; and
ability to analyse information and draw conclusions.
How much time is involved?
Board meetings are usually held once every two months and take place in the evenings, usually on a Thursday between 5-7pm with a mix of in-person and virtual meetings. The Board also holds two full day planning events each year and there will also be a requirement to attend occasional training sessions and other events. If you apply and are successfully appointed, Community Gateway will provide support and training to help you fulfil the role.
Interested in applying?
Please contact Stephen Pickup, Head of Business Assurance, no later than Wednesday 29th May 2024, for an informal chat about the role and further information regarding the appointment process.
